The TRADERDOMAINS.NET Domain Name Scam

Here’s the situation. I actually do own grabtabs.net and would be most interested in buying the dot com version. Over the course of  a month or so I received a series of these TRADERDOMAINS.NET emails. Curious, I clicked on the last email to see what the deal was. I was going to buy the domain, but something didn’t seem right. So I went to Godaddy to see if the domain was available. Wouldn’t you know it, it was. So I bought it for $7.50 (my special members price). Seems this company never purchased the domain at all. They have bots that just send out millions of these scam notices. You “buy” the domain from them and then once they have your money they go and buy the domain and sell it to you and pocket the difference ( $40). Total scam. What makes this seem legit at first is that I get offers from domain resellers all the time and have actually purchased legitimate domain names from them. However, when you look up the domain whois info the truly legitimate reseller will also be listed as the owner. I this case Traderdomains.net didn’t own it at all!

We noticed that you own GRABTABS.NET and felt that you may be interested in acquiring
the .COM version of your existing domain name.
